How to cope with shine/lint, hairlines

Remove shine from wool clothes. Sponge garment with solution of one teaspoon ammonia to a quart of water. Press on wrong side.

Remove shine from serge, as well as worsted gabardines, flannels, and worsted wools in general, by dampening a sponge or cloth slightly and sponging the shiny parts quite thoroughly. While fabric is damp, go over it, gently, with fine steel wool. With this, stroke the fabric, covering- about six inches of the suit with each stroke.

Remove lint from small area. Wrap adhesive or scotch tape around your finger, sticky side out, then use as a pick-up. For larger area, wrap tape, around a rolled-up magazine, sticky side out, and roll off the lint.

Hairlines are danger lines on men's and women's clothes. Once that oil mark hardens in the fabric, it may prove impossible to remove completely. So once weekly, clean coat-collar hairlines with a cleanser containing carbon tetrachloride, and brush briskly afterward.
