How to be well Dressed

Save without skimping. Watch for midseason and end-of-season sales. Make sure that sales are genuine, that reductions are genuine. Rely on the large department stores and on smaller stores with whose regular prices you are familiar.

Multiply a small wardrobe. Have garments in colors that harmonize with one another and are interchangeable. Variety of removable dickies and scarf's will do wonders. Plan your wardrobe so you can mix-match various sweaters, skirts, jackets, etc.

When buying washables, dresses and blouses that save time and money formerly spent on trips to the dry cleaner, stay away from garments with fussy details, because these often turn into real pressing problems.

Short girls look taller in straight or princess-style coats,, simply tailored, or feminine dresses with straight or slightly flared skirts. Stick to smooth fabrics or solid colors, small prints. Stay away from large sleeves, large purses, large-brim hats.

If you're tall, make the most of it, Enjoy wearing large hats and purses, wide sleeves and belts, full skirts. Wear gay plaid jacket with solid-color skirt, flare-back coats, and the striking blouses and skirts in patterned fabrics.

Tight fits didn't "shrink at the clean-ear's," usually. If you are plump, get the size that gives you breathing space when you buy wools, sweaters, or any loose weaves like crepe, close weaves are recommended, since they shrink hardly at all when dry-cleaned.

Dress thin figures smartly in bulky materials, plaids, checks, feminine frills, and dirndl skirts.  Shun severely tailored, straight-line clothes.
